If you’re in for some quick cash, all you really need to do is provide an unaltered clear photo of Bigfoot to Bushnell and “Field and Stream” magazine. The photo also has to be verified by scientific experts. If all goes well, you go home with 1 million dollars in your pocket.

As opposed to the photos above, you will need to provide actual photos of the creature and not just pictures of footprints.
Myth or not, Bigfoot/Yeti/Sasquatch has been in the minds of people ever since people talked about them. Scientists on the other hand remain skeptical of the actual existence of the creature but still keep an open mind. A clear photo unaltered photo verified by scientists would definitely be great.
Official rules can be found here. Note of caution, the fine print states that the investors shall not be held liable for any injuries caused by a Bigfoot attack. The contest ends on December 15, 2008.
One last thing, it’s open only to legal residents of the 50 United States and District of Columbia excluding residents of FL, NY, and RI. Now that’s a bummer! I was just getting ready to take a photo of myself but I’m not eligible. Good luck.

The Phoenix spacecraft will land on Mars in a few more hours but will it be successful? I personally hope so mainly because it’s another science vessel on Mars that will help us learn more about the red planet and possibly even find signs of life on it.

It’s not everyday that astronomers take a snapshot of the International Space Station from the ground that actually show it’s shape. It takes perfect timing, patience and probably a huge amount of luck to get it. You just have to be in the right place at the right time to do it. However there are few who appear to have all these attributes and more and were able to capture photos of the ISS.

Is there anything you can do to increase your intelligence? I think so and that’s why I wrote this short how to. Even though some people are born intelligent, I still believe that even those who are supposedly born dumb can do something about it. Why do I believe this? Well, because I’ve seen it.

Rocket racing is fast becoming a reality. It may not bey as hi-tech as Star Wars pod-racing is but it’s definitely more high flying. Read the rest of this entry »

What was the slimmest moon you’ve ever seen? Perhaps, you’re used to the crescent moon often depicted in photos and movies but have you ever seen a crescent moon so slim that you had a hard time looking for it? At first, he couldn’t see it, but searching with binoculars along a cloudy western horizon near sunset, photographer Laurent Laveder finally spotted a delicate lunar crescent. Captured in this dramatic picture on April 6th from Bretagne, France, the Moon was only 15 hours and 38 minutes old.

Binary stars are common in our universe. In fact, binary stars are so common that astronomers find it odd that our sun doesn’t have a twin. Common as they are, astronomers were surprised to find two stars orbiting each other so close that they share material with each other causing them to meld and form a peanut looking shape..

Suspended animation has been in the imagination of many science fiction lovers as well as true real-life scientists throughout the world. Traveling to Mars and other planets may take a long time and normal human metabolism will simply require too much resources - water, food, breathable oxygen, etc. Carrying them all in a spacecraft traveling to another planet may not be a wise decision to make.

I’m a total fan and supporter of science and have made some drastic decisions in my life that would probably make my friends go pale when I tell them. Being a science buff and a blogger at the same time, I thought it would be great to add some “haunted” touch to science for this year’s Halloween. Happily, I came across an article that would just fit the idea and so I’ve compiled a summary of it here and linked to the original source with complete description at the bottom of this post. Not really paranormal but I guess the number 13 should do the trick.

Comet enthusiasts and skywatchers, just in case you don’t know it yet, a comet suddenly appeared in the night sky in the constellation Perseus. It wasn’t there before October 24 but on said date, it suddenly shone as if Perseus is adorned with a new yellowish-white star bright enough (Magnitude 2.5 approx) to be seen with the naked eye. In fact I was able to spot it easily with no binoculars even with the bright full moon in the sky.
