Is there anything you can do to increase your intelligence? I think so and that’s why I wrote this short how to. Even though some people are born intelligent, I still believe that even those who are supposedly born dumb can do something about it. Why do I believe this? Well, because I’ve seen it.

I once had a classmate who was so dumb, the entire classroom (including myself) laughed at him. We all thought he was hopeless but he proved us all to be wrong. By the end of the school year, he managed to climb up the honor roll from nowhere to top 4. After that, no one ever dared to make jokes of him again. Even better, he got more friends and even tutored a few of our classmates during the next school year.

Was he born dumb? Well, he himself said so. But something changed in his life that transformed him from dumb to genius.

So how do you increase your intelligence? I asked him how he did it and here’s basically what he told me.

1. Start thinking genius. The more you think your dumb, the dumber you’ll get. It is often said that it all start by believing that you can do it.
2. Read challenging books, especially those that require you to think and not just love stories
3. Spend less time on TV. Too much TV can kill your brain.
4. Learn to love Math and Science. Ever wondered why scientists love them?
5. Eat healthy. The food you eat translates into nutrients that your brain need. The more healthy your food is, the more energy your brain has.
6. Quit those vices! Your mom was right, smoking and alcohol is bad for you!
7. Exercise your brain. The harder you think, the better your brain becomes. Buy challenging puzzles and try to solve them.
8. Get enough sleep. It is proven that sleep deprivation affects the brain.
9. Write essays. Intelligent people are good writers. Blogging can be a good way to do this.
10. Spend time with intelligent people. It may feel awkward at first but it soon pays off. And oh, don’t be shy to ask if you don’t understand what they’re talking about.
