The Far Side of the Moon

Time for a little science I guess.

Have you ever wondered why we only see one side of the moon? As for me, ever since I knew why, the wondering stopped but the frustration came in. Frustrated because I can never see the far side of the moon with my naked eyes unless I go out into space and travel towards the other side of our very own moon.

Anyway, for those who want to know why we only see one side of the moon all the time is that because it’s locked in synchronous rotation due to tidal forces between the Earth and the moon.

And for those like me who are frustrated and loathing to see the far-side of the moon, perhaps we can all just settle for the photo below taken by Apollo 16 when they travelled towards the other side.

Now ain’t that beautiful?
