Just viewed Comet Macholz – official name : c/2004 Q2 – through a 7×35 binocs and through my 60mm Leotax refractor (believe me, the binocs was better), and here is what I can say.

The Geminids meteor shower is favorable for the Philippines. The phase of the moon will be two days old and thus set just an hour after sunset. Maximum will be at
4:45am of December 14. Its rate reaches
80 meteors per hour. The meteor shower is
consistent and rich in fireballs and bolides. Its parent is not a comet but an asteroid by the name of 3200 Phaeton.
